DOM PRO vs Bookmap vs Jigsaw: which order-flow tool for NinjaTrader 8?

Three respected ways to read the order book on futures — one native to NinjaTrader 8, two standalone platforms. Here's an honest breakdown of pricing model, features and who each is really for.

Updated August 2026 · ~7 min read · by PropNexus

If you trade futures order flow, you've almost certainly run into Bookmap and Jigsaw daytradr. Both are excellent, mature tools. But if you already trade on NinjaTrader 8, there's a question worth asking before you add a monthly subscription or a second platform to your setup: do you want your order-flow tools inside NinjaTrader, or in a separate window?

That's the gap PropNexus DOM PRO fills. It's a native NT8 add-on — a Bookmap-style ladder with a liquidity heatmap, order-flow detectors and a per-level projected P&L column — bought once, not rented. This article compares the three fairly so you can pick what fits your workflow.

The real difference is the pricing model

Bookmap is a subscription platform. Plans run roughly $39–$99 per month depending on tier, and real-time futures market data is billed separately on top. Lifetime licenses exist but are expensive ($990–$1,990). Over a couple of years, that's a meaningful recurring cost.

Jigsaw daytradr sells a one-time license ($579 and up, on two PCs) — but trading live requires an additional data/execution subscription of about $50/month; simulation is free. So the "lifetime" price still carries a monthly line item once you go live.

PropNexus is a straight one-time purchase: $149 for DOM PRO, $79 for Tape, $199 for the bundle, on up to two machines, updates included. Because it runs inside NinjaTrader, it uses the data connection you already pay for — there's no extra market-data bill layered on top.

Rule of thumb

If you're an NT8 trader who wants pro order flow without adding a subscription or a second app, a one-time native add-on is the cheapest path to the same reads. If you live across many markets and want the deepest heatmap available, a dedicated platform can be worth the recurring cost.

Where each one shines

Bookmap — the heatmap benchmark

Bookmap's real-time liquidity heatmap is, deservedly, the reference the whole category is measured against. It covers futures, stocks and crypto, has a deep add-on ecosystem, and is the natural choice if you want the richest visual map of resting liquidity across many instruments — and you're comfortable running it as a separate platform with a subscription and separate data.

Jigsaw daytradr — the ladder & education ecosystem

Jigsaw built its reputation on a clean, fast order-entry DOM and, just as importantly, on education: a trade simulator, the Journalytix journal, a chat room and structured training. If you want a dedicated ladder plus a learning path and don't mind the live-data fee, Jigsaw's ecosystem is strong.

PropNexus DOM PRO + Tape — order flow inside NinjaTrader

DOM PRO puts a Bookmap-style ladder and liquidity heatmap directly into NinjaTrader 8, alongside six real-time order-flow detectors (sweep, absorption, iceberg and more), cumulative delta, VWAP ±σ and POC/VAH/VAL. Its signature is the per-level projected P&L column — you see exactly what flattening at each price is worth before you click. A built-in risk manager (daily-loss limit, max position, auto-flatten) and a volatility gate that locks trading when conditions aren't met round it out. The companion Tape adds a reconstructed Time & Sales that colour-codes sweeps, icebergs and stop-runs. Everything runs on your existing NT8 charts, execution and data — and it all works in Market Replay so you can drill the same reads after the close.

So which should you choose?

None of these are wrong choices. The question is simply whether your order-flow tools should live inside NinjaTrader — paid once — or in a separate, subscription platform.

FAQ

Is DOM PRO a replacement for Bookmap or Jigsaw?

DOM PRO covers the same core need — reading order flow on the ladder — but it does it inside NinjaTrader 8 as a native add-on, with a one-time license instead of a subscription. If you already trade on NT8 and don't want a second platform, it's a direct alternative. If you trade many asset classes or want Bookmap's signature heatmap depth, a dedicated platform may still suit you.

Does PropNexus charge a monthly fee or separate market-data fee?

No. DOM PRO and Tape are one-time purchases (DOM PRO $149, Tape $79, bundle $199) that run on up to two machines. They use your existing NinjaTrader 8 data connection, so there is no separate market-data subscription on top.

Do I need Bookmap or Jigsaw if I use NinjaTrader?

Not necessarily. Bookmap and Jigsaw are separate platforms you run alongside or instead of NinjaTrader. PropNexus adds a Bookmap-style ladder, liquidity heatmap, order-flow detectors and a reconstructed tape directly into NinjaTrader 8, so you keep one platform for charts, execution and order flow.
